A Trip to Hartpury International Horse Trials
Last weekend Tara returned to Hartpury University to support two of Mochara's riders: Lizzie Baugh and Alyssa Yallop who were competing in the horse trials. With the cancellation of Gatcombe Horse Trials, Hartpury also hosted the National championship classes as well as their usual International classes.
Lizzie had an incredibly busy weekend with two horses in the International classes and two horses in the National classes. The event proved very successful, with 3 out of her 4 horses jumping double clear. The highlight of the event was Lizzie's mare 'Calida Spice' finishing 4th in the CCI2*L, picking up her qualification for the FEI WBFSH World Breeding Eventing Championships for Young Horses at Le Lion d’Angers, France from 17-20 October 2024. Lizzie also had a great run with 'B Exclusive' in the CCI4*-S. B Exclusive, also known as Buzz hadn't had a run since Bramham in June last year due to injury. This clearly wasn't a problem as he skipped around the jumping phases producing a textbook double clear. September is looking like it might be rather exciting month for this pair - a certain 'Big B' might just be on the cards...
Alyssa also had a successful weekend with her horse Qatar VD Heffinck (also known as Hector) competing in his first CCI3*-L. It was great to see the Alyssa and Hector fly around the cross country course, just adding a handful of penalties to their dressage score of 35.3. Alyssa rode a great round and you could hear her chatting to Hector the whole way round. The pair lowered two rails on the final day of jumping, but jumped a super round. A great result for their first 3*L together. If all goes to plan, Alyssa and Hector will head to Blenheim for the CCI-S 4* 8/9YO in September.
A great weekend for our Mochara riders.
