Layering up when the temperature goes down
It's pretty cold outside at the moment and like it or not owning a horse means dealing with freezing mornings, even colder evenings and everything in between. We layer up our horses in waterproof turn out rugs and cosy stable rugs but what about their humans?
One of the secrets to staying warm is keeping your core warm, that’s where all your vital organs are so if you keep your core warm then your extremities – fingers and toes for example – get to keep their blood rather than it being diverted to keep those organs warm.
The best way to do this is with layers. Your body is constantly generating heat so if you trap this between layers you create little cosy blankets of warm air that can’t escape.
Anyway, enough of the science, below are some gorgeous Mochara pieces that will layer up perfectly providing practical insulation and also looking great!
A few tips to stay warm in Mochara…
Layer 1 - Base layer
Mochara base layers are a staple piece for your wardrobe, designed to keep you warm and toasty in colder weather and cooler when it gets warm. The technical breathable fabric will wick away sweat so even when you are riding or exercising you don’t need to worry about cooling down and catching a chill afterwards.

Layer 2 – Cotton V Neck
100% Cotton and thin enough to layer without adding too much bulk, pop on top of your base layer to create that second layer of insulation.

Layer 3 – ½ zip sweatshirt or hoodie
Finish off with a fleece lined Mochara Half Zip Sweatshirt or Hoodie, perfect colours to choose from to complement layers 1 and 2 and add that extra insulation layer (and they look super smart too!)

To finish off add a Mochara pom pom hat. While it is a bit of a myth that all your body heat will escape through your head, it will certainly help to keep you warm if you add one. These hats are 100% cotton and you can even mix and match the pom pom colours to suit your mood.
There’s a lot to love about winter, frosty mornings and blue skies, maybe a little snow and also the chance to wear all these Mochara pieces at the same time!
